Our Calling

In Acts 13, we witness a significant turning point in the history of the early church as the Holy Spirit leads the church in Antioch to intentionally send missionaries to take the gospel into new regions. The reach of the mission is expanding, but the mission itself remains unchanged. The same calling Jesus gave His disciples in Acts 1:8—to be His witnesses to the ends of the earth—is still the calling of the church today. In this message, Pastor Tony reminds us that the Holy Spirit has been given to empower us for this mission, and that even good and important pursuits must never distract us from our primary calling to make Christ known. As we see the believers in Antioch worshiping, praying, and fasting, we are challenged to examine our own hearts, remain sensitive to the Spirit's leading, and ask ourselves: Is the mission of Jesus Christ truly uppermost in our lives?
